Dear Friends,

A year ago the Board of Directors asked me to take on the task of helping to renew the vitality and integrity of the Redwood Coast Senior Center. I want to thank you for your advice, perspectives, volunteer labor, and financial support. Together we have accomplished that goal.

All of us can be proud of the fact that despite the loss of nearly $100,000 of funding, the Senior Center has not reduced any of its services to elders here on the north coast. You can read our Annual Report in PDF form right here online which explains in detail what we have accomplished in terms of continuing service, improving governance, and maintaining a balanced budget.

As we move into Spring, it is time for a final effort to raise $33,000 to reach our $88,000 goal together. A combination of special fund raising events every month, and your personal generosity, have taken us nearly two thirds of the way. I am asking you to give one more time this year, so that we can finish what we set out to accomplish.

We just completed application for the next three years of funding through the Area Association on Aging, the agency that administers the federal, state and county funds for Senior Services. These contracts provide nearly half of our operating money. The outlook is quite positive for their continuing support. I’ll report back to you in June when we finalize our next budget.

It has been an exciting challenge this past year to work with so many of you to restore the Center to the kind, courteous, and respectful role it has traditionally occupied in the heart of our community. Thank you for the opportunity to give back to my beloved North Coast, that has sustained me and been my home for so long. It is a great place to grow old together!

Sincerely,
